MISSION & PHILOSOPHY
The Little Green Schoolhouse is a unique learning environment for the start of your child's exciting educational journey. It is our mission to provide opportunities for all children to discover and meet their full potential, foster self-esteem and self-confidence.
Our philosophy is that all children deserve to begin their educational journey in a safe, healthy, learning environment. All children should also be provided with a strong foundation so they can grow into confident and independent adults, who have respect for themselves, others and the environment. We believe the following key elements guide and define our philosophy and our approach to teaching and learning.
1. Nurturing the Whole Child: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind, Healthy Spirit
2. Child Focused Learning: Developmental, Exploration, Meaningful
3. Building a School Community: Respect, Acceptance, Compassion
4. Responsible Citizenship: Eco-friendly Initiatives, School, Community
As part of our daily mission and philosophy, we strive to support, encourage and nurture a passion for life-long learning. We set high standards for the emotional, social and intellectual success of our children. To help support our programs, we incorporate the Region of Peel's Best Start Initiative, Ministry of Education's Kindergarten curriculum and Child Development Resource Connection Peel's Raising the Bar Program.
Here at The Little Green Schoolhouse children are provided with opportunities to learn through real-life, hands-on experiences, within the positive influences of fellow classmates, parents, teachers and the natural environment. Our approach to teaching and learning is influenced by the philosophies of Reggio Emilia, Maria Montessori, Friedrich Frobel and Rudolf Steiner. We therefore recognize and understand that children develop through various stages, often at different times and when they are ready.
